An Update on ZinePak from Shark Tank

If you like the entertainment industry, chances are you’ve heard of “fandoms.” Well, what about being a super fan? ZinePak founder Brittany Hodak knows a lot about both, and used her knowledge to create her company in 2011. She and her business partner Kim Kaupe had major success with their marketing agency. They connected major celebrities with their fans through interactive experiences and fun products. In 2015, the company appeared on Shark Tank and secured a high valuation deal. So, where is the business now? Find out below.

ZinePak Update from Shark Tank

1) Brittany co-founded her company in 2011. Over the years, she secured major celebrity names like Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. These names impressed the sharks, but what they liked even more were Brittany’s numbers. They hit $1 million in revenue in under 12 months; $2 million in product sales in 18 months! The company was also recognized by some of the biggest media outlets like Forbes and Billboard.

2) According to Brittany’s official website, appearing on Shark Tank helped her evaluate her business model. Even though she was offered deals from 4/5 sharks, she ultimately didn’t go through with any of them. The show’s exposure gave her numerous speaking and consulting opportunities.

3) The brand underwent a name change – it’s now known as The Superfan Company – and Brittany exited in 2018. She sold her portion to the existing partners, and focused on her speaking engagements instead.

4) Now, The Superfan Company is run by Kim, and it’s still doing wonderfully. Big celebrity names still flock to their client list, and their product lines have only grown. But, it’s quality over quantity. Billboard profiled Kim and the business last year, where she noted that “slapping a logo on a notebook is the antithesis of what we do.”

5) Just this year, Kim launched a new business venture called Bright Ideas Only. It’s a design, marketing, and consulting agency for the entertainment industry. You can follow that Instagram account here. The last post on The Superfan Company’s IG page relating to their original business was from summer 2020. So, it looks like things are looking brighter now for this newly minted company.
