5 Facts About Tony Xu, DoorDash CEO and Guest Shark<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
1) Tony Xu was born in Nanjing, China and came to the USA with his parents at age 5. His mother was a doctor in China, and his father was working towards a degree in aeronautical engineering and applied math, according to CNBC<\/a>. Meanwhile, Tony went on to attend UC Berkley for engineering and Stanford for business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2) Tony is not his first name. Originally born Xu Xun, he decided to change his name to better fit in with his new classmates. So, he adopted the name Tony after his favorite American TV show character, Tony from Who’s the Boss<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
3) In 2012, Tony and his three business classmates Stanley Tang, Andy Fang and Evan Moore started the food delivery service app Palo Alto Delivery, even making the deliveries themselves. A year later, after receiving seed money, they changed the name to DoorDash and began hiring delivery drivers called “Dashers.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
