Shawn Green is a former MLB athlete. He was a right-fielder whose career went from 1993-2007. While he was born in Illinois, he grew up in California. After winning a baseball scholarship to Stanford University, he was a first pick for the Toronto Blue Jays in the 90s. Now, he’s married and has a family. 1) His dad Ira played basketball at DePaul University. It must’ve been where Shawn got his love of sports. According to Vault<\/a><\/em>, Ira taught his son about the swing in baseball when he was young. The family settled down in California after Ira married Chicagoan Judy Schneider. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2) The major league teams he played for were: the Toronto Blue Jays (1993-1999), the Los Angeles Dodgers (2000-2004), the Arizona Diamondbacks (2005-2006), and then finally, the New York Mets (2006-2007) before retiring in 2008. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3) Green was an All Star in 1999 and 2002. Plus, he was the LA Dodgers’ Player of the Year in 2001. He’s one of the best known Jewish major league ballplayers. Post-MLB, he played on and coached the Israeli National Baseball Team in 2012. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4) Aside from baseball, he made 3 cameo appearances on television. In 2002 and 2003, it was on The Nick Cannon Show<\/em> and The Core<\/em>, respectively. In 2005, he appeared on the series premiere of Numb3rs<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5) He married wife Lindsay Bear in 2001. They have two daughters named Presley and Chandler. You can see a recent family photo of the foursome below. Presley graduated<\/a> this year from Newport Harbor HS, and will be attending UCSB (University of California Santa Barbara).
