Update on NightCap 2022

Sometimes an idea is tantamount to the reason behind it. Take for example: NightCap, the scrunchie that aims to prevent drink spiking. It may look like one thing, but it’s been made for an entirely different reason. Before it debuts on ABC’s Shark Tank, keep reading below for five facts.

Details on NightCap

1) Shirah Benarde and her brother, Michael are the inventors behind NightCap. Shirah is only 18, a first year at the University of Tampa. Her brother is a grad student at Florida State University.

2) If that wasn’t impressive enough, Shirah came up with the idea at 16! She even received a patent for her product (the scrunchie). Later, she partnered with her brother to create NightCapIt LLC.

3) According to Boca Mag, it was made to “turn into” a scrunchie to increase the likelihood of people taking it with them. The actual cap for the drink is hidden inside the scrunchie. Just put the cover over your cup, and it’s got a small hole for a straw to fit.
