What started out as a personal issue became one useful product for a mother and daughter duo. Barbara Heilman, and her daughter, Becca, invented Unbuckle Me, the device that aides in the unfastening of children from their car seats. Barbara and Becca are even getting a chance to pitch their product on ABC’s Shark Tank this week. Keep reading below for five facts on their product.

1) Barbara used her background as a therapist to create a prototype of Unbuckle Me, which was sort of like a plastic splint. According to their official website, Becca was so impressed by her mother’s invention that she thought there had to be a bigger picture here. And thus, the rest is history.

2) Their product is patented, and in 2018, Becca became certified as a Child Passenger Safety Tech. She is super passionate about educating people on the message of child safety when it comes to them being passengers in vehicles today.

3) By the looks of their Instagram, Unbuckle Me has had quite a few big breaks in the fundraising world, as they successfully raised enough money via Kickstarter in 2017; in 2019, they received a $5,000 grant.
