Tree T Pee from Shark Tank: An Update

  • by

Tree T Pee is a teepee shaped cone designed to preserve trees, prevent frost damage and save water. Created by a father-and-son team, the product eventually made its way onto ABC’s Shark Tank. Find out what happened after the show below, including where it is now, with these five facts.

5 Facts About Tree T Pee

1) The inventors are/were Johnny Georges and his late father Rick. According to Dusk Digital, John said his father was a pioneer in the irrigation industry. His dad would place dirt over trees to protect them whenever a cold front was on the way. When the pair crafted a plastic teepee to protect the trees, the idea of their bestselling product was born.

2) His story was very touching, but what really got to the sharks was how Johnny was an honest to goodness hardworking American. His goal wasn’t greed or to make money, he was simply out there to help farmers and other tree owners. With his product, water gallons would go from 25,000 to 800 per year, which saves a ton of money and makes a huge environmental impact. It’s conserved through micro-sprinklers!

3) In the tank, the deal was made for $150,000 for 20%. Guest shark John Paul DeJoria jumped onboard, according to ABC News. John Paul was able to get Johnny’s product into Home Depot, where they sell for $9.97. Something else that resonated with Johnny was DeJoria’s saying “wealth un-shared is wasted.” Helping out the major farming communities was something they both agreed on.

4) As of right now, they are still in business. The website is up and running, and their bestselling teepee cone is available. There’s only the one product though.

5) There’s not been any activity on their Instagram page since 2017. But, they are still active on their Facebook page, which has 62,000 likes and counting. Be sure to follow them there to keep up to date.

ABC’s Shark Tank airs season 13 starting October 8 at 8 PM ET. In the meantime, you can catch up on other episodes on Hulu or on demand.
