Tom & Chee from Shark Tank Update

Grilled cheese and tomato soup is a classic pairing. Tom & Chee made the classic iconic with its restaurants. The company even made its way onto ABC’s Shark Tank where they walked away with a deal. But, what happened post-Shark Tank? Find out below with these five facts.

Where’s Tom & Chee from Shark Tank Now?

1) If you missed their Shark Tank debut, Tom & Chee was on season 4. Trew Quackenbush and Corey Ward are the co-founders. Trew’s a self-taught cook, and Corey grew up behind the grill. They went into business together in 2009. With sales of 1.5 million in a year, Mark Cuban and Barbara Corcoran did a deal with Trew and Corey.

2) While their headquarters were in Cincinnati, Ohio, they launched grilled cheese shops all over the US. Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan, Kansas, and more states had the restaurant.

3) Tom & Chee had not one, but three update episodes on Shark Tank. The first detailed their expansions to other states, the second mentioned their progress on that front. The third revealed many more plans for the company. Check one out below.

4) In 2017, GSR acquired the business, and had plans for rebranding and re-expanding. Trew and Corey remained onboard for a short time, but by 2019, only Corey was still a part of the company. Trew teaches culinary arts at a Cincinnati high school and works as an independent chef, according to Shark Tank Blog.

5) After going from 35 to 23 stores, GSR went from grilled cheeses to “melts” for more creative options. They also installed ovens for cooking, which cut times from minutes to mere seconds. Currently, there are still 7 locations open, and their social media pages are still active.
