1) Erin Robertson went into the tank asking for $200,000 in exchange for 10%, according to CNBC. That would make her company a valuation of 2 million dollars. She had the numbers to back it up though. In one year, she did 1.1 million in sales. Impressive!
2) While Erin made a deal with Lori Greiner for 40% at $200,000, the other sharks praised her efforts. Mark Cuban told her she was “crushing it”; Robert Herjavec said she was “awesome.’ Her presentation consisted of her stellar margins – Erin made them for $24, sold them for $45 at the time. Currently, they are sold for $29.99 and bundles for $55.00.
3) Ta-Ta Towels come in a ton of different colors and styles. From hot pink to floral, there’s something for everyone to like. The names are fun too: Sugar Punch, License to Chill, Party Teal Dawn, just to name a few.
4) In the few years since their Shark Tank debut, Ta-Ta Towels have grown in popularity. They’ve expanded their collection, and their newer line of “testie towels” (for men) have already sold out online. The original towels are available on their official website, or on Amazon.
5) The brand is verified on Instagram with over 200,000 followers. The account promotes body positivity, confidence, and being a strong woman. From customers to influencers, photos of every body type rocking the towel bra are seen. The sizes range from small-extra large (C cup to H cup and up).
The majority of customers praise the Tata Towels for their comfort and ease of use. However, some did find the TaTa towel to be uncomfortable around their neck. They commented on the inability to adjust the towel enough and it putting too much weight around your neck. “Short around the neck and no adjusting up when it’s too tight,” one reviewer commented. However, it does wash nice and the material is comfortable.
There is an added perk to purchasing one of Shark Tank’s most useful products. Men have been commenting how they love looking at their lady wearing the TaTa towel. One male customer wrote, “I bought this for my wife. I love to look at it, and she loves to wear it!” It’s so true that the official TaTa Towel Facebook page posted this photo of a man doing chores around the house while she lounges in the cute TaTa Towel.
In addition to the classic TaTa Towel, the ladies have expanded their line to also include the toob top. These are perfect for smaller chested ladies to avoid sweat and rashes too. You can pick one up for yourself at their official website. The toob tops are also available in various colors on Amazon.
Where are TaTa Towels made? They are all conveniently made in the USA.
TaTa towels raked in $1.1 million in sales in 2017. In an interview with founder, Erin Robertson gave she said, “my business has been growing every year since.” The towels cost $24 to produce and are currently sold for $30 – $35.
As of 2023, Tata Towel is estimated to have a net worth of $2 million!
Erin went on to say that she is most proud that she has been able to source and manufacture right in Los Angeles using a small family-owned business.
Erin Robertson went on to be super successful with her invention. However, the deal with Lori Greiner never actually closed after the cameras stopped rolling.
Erin Robertson invented the TaTa Towel. The idea came to her one day when she was getting ready to go on a date one hot day in Los Angeles. She could not stop sweating because the A/C unit was broken in her apartment. Erin tried everything, even putting washcloths under her boobs to absorb the sweat. Nothing worked. Throughout her entire date, she strategized on a better solution to something she knew so many women must be dealing with.
After a trip home for the holidays and an attempt to use an old dusty sewing machine that turned out to be broken, she turned to YouTube to learn how to sew her way into an incredible invention. It was then that the TaTa towel was created and after asking her friends to test her prototype with rave reviews, she knew she had something special.
The ta-ta towel is still available for purchase online. They come in a variety of colors. You can browse on Amazon here.
