]]> Tejas Muthusamy is a veteran of spelling bees and his spelling career has captivated so many to the point he was chosen to be featured on Netflix’s “Spelling the Dream.” He is a speller on a mission, so who is the guy behind the spelling genius? Find out all about Tejas Muthusamy below!

1. Tejas is currently 17 years old.

2. He is a four-time Scripps Spelling Bee participant

3. Tejas was a 2017 RTD Person of the Year honoree.

4. Tejas and his family are from Henrico County, Virginia.

5. He is multi-lingual. He speaks English fluently and is also studying Russian, French, and Turkish.

6. 2017 was Tejas’s last year as a competitor in the National Scripps Spelling Bee. That was when Tejas was in 8th grade and wrapped up a spelling career which captivated a Richmond region according to Richmond.com.

7. In a video he offered a special message to his fellow competitors in the Scripps Spelling Bee for 2019.

8. What did Tejas do the first summer after he wrapped up his spelling career? Spent two spelling-free weeks at Yellowstone National Park and took a trip to North Carolina with his family. Plus he enjoyed more tv.
