This bright young girl has turned heads and people are taking notice to this young prodigy. She is featured in “Spelling the Dream” on Netflix. Who is Ashrita Ghandari? Find out below.

1. Ashrita’s favorite book is “Brown Girl Dreaming” by Jackie Woodson

2. Ashrita Gandhari is 10 years old

3. She and her family are from North Andover, Massachusetts but currently living in Ashburn, Virginia

4. Ashrita was the winner of the Loudoun County Public Schools spelling bee who correctly spells “Citronella” and “photophilic” according to insidenova.com

5. According to the Chicago Sun Times, Ashrita was competing with kids twice her age when she was only 5 years old.

6. She competed in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in 2018

7. Ashrita Gandhari talks about her first time in a spelling bee. She was at an art competition, she heard about the spelling be and wanted to try it for “fun.” Ashrita relays that she didn’t prepare anything and came in 3rd while competing against eighth graders.

8. In an interview with Ashrita’s mother, she said that Ashrita has been participating in South Asian Spelling Bees since she was 5 years old.
