The all-natural body and skincare brand Saavy Naturals debuted on Shark Tank in season 7. The company made quite an impact with their 100% food-based ingredient products. What goes on your skin goes into your body, according to founders Hugo and Debra Saavedra. So, they wanted to make products that were good for you. Find out what they’ve been up to since their 2016 episode below.
1) Hugo and Debra Saavedra went in to the tank asking for $200,000 for 10% of the company. That puts their valuation at $2 million. While they didn’t get the exact deal they wanted, they didn’t walk away empty handed. Barbara Corcoran invested, giving them $100,000 for 40%, and $100,000 for purchase orders.
2) Products are made without parabens, sulfates, or anything artificial. They are made in small batches, are biodegradable, and free of gluten or soy. Available for purchase are body scrubs, washes, soaps, creams, and bath bombs. Hand soaps, candles, and even hair care are options as well.
3) When the pandemic hit, Hugo and Debra adapted. They came out with a new sanitizing line. It includes hand sanitizing sprays, mask sprays, and hand sanitizing gels. Another newer addition to their line is baby care. This includes everything from baby oil and diaper care. Whatever you need, they have it.
4) Saavy Naturals’ social media is vast. They have multiple channels that have helped get the word out about their products. Those channels include: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and even LinkedIn. They’ve gone from Hugo and Debra to 8 additional employees since the business began in 2014.
5) The first retail store for Saavy Naturals opened in California in 2018. It’s unclear if they’re wanting to expand more into a retail market, but with Barbara onboard, the sky’s the limit. You can purchase the whole line of Saavy Naturals on their own shop at Amazon!
