Safety is the number one priority for first responders, and two firefighters set out to make a product that would ensure just that – Rescue Ready. The window escape ladder device has made headlines within their Norfolk, Virginia community, but now they’re taking it nationwide as they will pitch their idea on ABC’s Shark Tank. Keep reading below for 5 facts about their genius product.
1) Rescue Ready is a window escape ladder that was designed by two first responders, Eric Hartsfield and Brett Russell. Eric has been a fireman for 10 years, and Brett has been a firefighter/paramedic for 13.
2) What makes their ladder different is that it can hold up to 750 pounds, is reusable, easily accessible and kid-friendly, as well as it’s length is 2 stories long, which means you don’t have to jump down the last few feet from the side of your house.
3) Eric and Brett have specialized training in technical rescues, which include: confined-space, rope, and structural collapse rescue.
4) Aside from their admirable first responder service, the duo graduated from the College of Business at James Madison University, and both have been entrepreneurs.
5) You can pre-order their product on KickStarter, and there is more information on that via their official website.
We wish Eric and Brett the best of luck in pitching this life-saving invention to the investors on ABC’s Shark Tank.
