If you’ve ever wanted to turn your truck bed into an above-ground pool, then Pick Up Pool is the thing you need in your life. Tommy Prostella is the man behind the invention, initially trying to make a prototype for his daughter. When folks got word, they wanted an on-the-go aquatic adventure too. So, Tommy’s business was born. Keep reading below for five facts on Pick Up Pool, including where they are now after their Shark Tank appearance.

1) Essentially, it’s a barrier that turns the bed of a truck into your own little pool. According to Forbes, Tommy made them for $110/$117 per size, selling them for $200/$210, respectively. He started the business in 2014, and quickly sold out of product.

2) His time as a veteran affected his time as a CEO. When he was called back for another deployment, he sold his sister a percentage of the company to run. By the time he returned, the old manufacturer they used had retired! But, their sales were decent.

3) Mark Cuban was the one shark who offered him a deal without contingencies. Tommy was offered $100,000 for 33.3%; he had come in with the offer of $100,000 for 25%. Ultimately, it took a little bit of debating – Barbara Corcoran also had an offer on the table – but, Mark won Tommy over in the end.

4) After their Shark Tank episode, Mark added Pick Up Pools to the list of his official companies, which helped uptick their sales. The businesses’ Amazon reviews continued to fall into 5-star range, which helped a lot too. They’ve got over 1,300 Instagram followers. They’ve since expanded their product line to include 3 sizes total: short, long, and standard bed pool sizes.

5) Currently, you can shop on their website, or on Amazon. As of right now, the short-bed sized pool is sold out; but the standard is available for $140; the long bed style for $170.
