Mother Apple Cider Vinegar Drink was on season 10 of Shark Tank. Stephen and Allison Ellsworth pitched the drink to investors. They created an apple cider vinegar infused drink that tasted good too. The couple made a deal with guest shark Rohan Oza, and they are still in business. Find out more about their journey and where they are now below.
1) Stephen and Allison went in asking for 10% equity for $400,000. The valuation for their company was 4 million dollars. They got a deal with Rohan Oza for the $400K, but for a 25% stake.
2) When Rohan came aboard, the business was rebranded. Mother is now Poppi Beverage. The original name came from the film at the bottom of the bottle. The new name originated in 2020, planning to “make drinking apple cider vinegar cool,” according to The DieLine.
3) Additionally, the glass bottles were replaced with aluminum cans, resembling soda. This helps appeal to a large audience and helps Stephen and Allison reach their goal of making apple cider vinegar something interesting. The rebranding also includes a message leaning towards the drink being a “better alternative to soda” rather than a healthy apple cider drink.
4) They kept the flavor profiles that were first created, including pineapple, turmeric, ginger, and blood orange. Now, the cans reflect the vibrant flavors, using bright colors and graphics. Currently, it’s sold online. You can also find it in Whole Foods or Sprouts stores across the country.
5) They’ve since branched out into teas and yes, even a soda “pop” drink. Root beer is another newer flavor. And yes, all of these drinks still have that kick of apple cider vinegar, so they’re good for you. Plus, with only 5 grams of sugar, it’s the healthiest “pop” you’ll ever have.
