  • by

Michael Rubin will be the guest shark on episode 3 of Season 15 for Shark Tank airing on October 13, 2023.

Michael Rubin is the CEO of Fanatics.  He was born on July 21, 1972 and his net worth is $11.5 billion.  As of December 2022, Fanatics was valued at $31 billion.  Michael Rubin owns 33% of the company.  He was married at one point to Meegan Rubin. He has three daughters, Kylie from his first marriage then Romi and Gema from his current girlfriend, Camille Fishel.

Michael went to Villanova University and is also the Co-Chair of Reform Alliance

Michael Rubin shared an important lesson he learned about owning a business and that is to “own your mistakes.”  It quickly spread on the internet when some fans received Philadelphia Eagles fans received their jerseys with a crooked number on them.  He took to Instagram to let those who received the bad shirts he would make it right.  It turned out it was only a dozen people who received the crooked shirt.  However Michael feels, “One bad product and one unhappy customer is one too many.”

As the co-chair of Reform which was started less than 5 years ago, Rubin proudly states he has passed 17 pieces of bipartisan legislation in 11 states which creates pathways for 700K people to transition out of the justice system and into work.  They held a Casino night which brought in $24M which was very star studded including appearances by Tom Brady, Jay-Z, Matthew McConaughey, A-Rod and many more.

Michael likes to get goofy and have fun with his girlfriend and older daughter, Kylie.  He even dressed up as a cowboy and did a dance with them.

Rubin definitely spends his time living it up with tons of athletes and celebrities.  He even capped off Rookie Premiere weekend with a party which included the likes of the D’Amelio girls plus a number of basketball players.

He likes to hold talks with the Fanatics athletes inviting big time athletes in to give incredible aspiration from people such as Tom Brady and Travis Scott.  In the talk they spoke about ways to build their careers on and off the field.

Fanatics keeps growing.  In April they purchased Italian Sports Merchandiser, Api thereby adding several Serie A football Clubs.

He loves his sports card shows though and is often found at them.  He went to one in Philadelphia and said he loved meeting and learning from so many collectors and sports fans.

Earlier in 2023 Michael’s Fanatics hired a former Snap and Google executive to head its new live-shopping division.  He said he built his $31 billion sports retail giant by looking at potential opportunities through the lens of three questions:  Is it good for fans?  Is it good for Fanatics partners?  Is it a big enough business opportunity?
