AMERICAN IDOL – “602 (Auditions)” - MCKAYLA STACEY (ABC/Eric McCandless)
American Idol season 21 kicked off last weekend, and the auditions have already blown the judges away. But, this week, a new group of talented hopefuls will take the stage and try to get that coveted golden ticket to Hollywood. One such contestant is McKayla Stacey. Get to know the singer below with these five facts now.
1) She is 16 years old and attends Andover Central High School. The Kansas teenager has always been good at getting people’s attention with her charm. Just check out this photo from Instagram she posted with the caption: “last weekend🤍 +new orleans and a random photo of baby me serving” below!
2) Singing runs in her family…no seriously! Her father Phil Stacey auditioned for the original American Idol series during season 6 when he was just 28 years old. Check it out now:
That definitely explains her saying “🚨🚨ANNOUNCEMENT: MY DAD AND I ARE SEASON 6 TWINS!!!” on Instagram alongside a couple photos of her and her dad.
3) McKayla does theater at her high school. Drama club allows her to perform on stage in various plays and of course, sing in musicals or choir performances when applicable. She really enjoys it, and has a whole highlight reel on Instagram dedicated to it.
4) She has an older sister named Chloe who graduated from high school last year. Chloe’s studying psychology and is part of the hockey’s dance team, Wichita Thunder Ice Girls. You can see a photo of McKayla with her sister Chloe and their dad Phil below:
5) McKayla’s IG bio says that “JESUS [COMES] FIRST ALWAYS” so perhaps her faith gave her that little extra boost of confidence to go after this dream. No matter the outcome, she truly seems genuinely grateful for the opportunity.
