Mavens Creamery Update from Shark Tank

  • by

Mavens Creamery is a macaron ice cream sandwich company. Founders Gwen and Christine Nguyen appeared on Shark Tank in season 10 to pitch their product. They got a super-sweet deal with a shark, and have been in business ever since. Find out what happened during and after the show below.

5 Facts About Mavens Creamery

1) The business was brought to life in 2014 by Gwen and Christine. They are of Vietnamese descent; neither have specialized culinary or confectionary training. The sisters actually got inspired from the internet, and hours of searching dessert ideas. Their father served as inspiration for them to start their own business.

2) According to Shark Tank Tales, in 2015 the duo introduced their desserts locally. Soon, the macaron desserts combined with ice cream and cheesecake became a huge hit. Their macaron ice cream sandwiches became popular too, and the sisters went to local retailers and began selling online. By 2018, they did over $2 million in sales.

3) Upon entering the tank, they asked for $400,000 for 10%. What they got was the $400,000, but for 25% from Barbara Corcoran.

4) They took their business to the next level post Shark Tank, opening up a manufacturing plant and employing workers. Now, they’re selling the desserts in over 300 stores. They are mostly based in California, and on the East Coast. Stores like Albertsons and Whole Foods carry the products.

5) With 30+ flavors made from all-natural ingredients, it’s no wonder they have such a fanbase. From more traditional options like chocolate chip cookie dough to unique flavors like coconut pineapple, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
