Locker Board from Shark Tank Update

  • by

Locker Board was built by 12 year old Carson Kropfl who ran into a problem while going to school. He liked to ride his skateboard to school but couldn’t fit in his locker. Kropfl couldn’t find a skateboard he liked that would be small enough for the locker. So he decided to make one and the Locker Board was born. It even made it to the stage of Shark Tank.

Did Locker Board get a deal from the sharks?

They walked into the Shark Tank looking for $60,000 for 15% of their business. Richard Branson offered $65,000 for 20% of their business while Mark Cuban offers $60,000 for 20%. Kropfl accepts his offer.

Where is Locker Board today in 2022?

The deal with Richard Branson went through. According to Sharktankblog.com, Locker Board did a licensing deal with Wham-O who created the slip and slide. Kropfl started the company at just 11 years old in 2016. In 2020 he licensed his Locker Board to Wham-O “for his unique, rectangular-shaped sustainable skateboard that fits in a standard-size locker or backpack.” (lockerboard.net) . Lockerboard has a patent issued which is very needed for the licensing deal.

Wham-O on the business partnership with “Everyone here at Wham-O is stoked to be in business with Carson and Locker Board.  These unique skateboards will be the center piece of our new Wham-O Wheelz category.  Personally, I’m looking forward to working directly with Carson and building this business together,” said Todd Richards, President of Wham-O.

The company gained much traction in the press world with appearance in the following major publications and media:

  • Virgin
  • Inc.
  • BuzzFeed
  • Huffpost
  • Eyewitness News
  • KTLA5
  • Harry
  • Braille Skateboarding
  • GrindTV

Wham-o rebranded the skateboard as “Wheelz Locker Board.” There are three variations of the skateboard (https://wham-o.com/collections/locker-board), the Cruz Skateboard, Grind Skateboard, and From Skateboard. They range in price anywhere from $27.99 to $59.99.

What is Carson Kropfl doing now?

At 13 years of age, Carson gave an update on his Locker Board product in this video.

Their Instagram page has over 4K and the Facebook page has 1.2K likes. Activity seems to have dropped off on social media for his company with his last post being from August 2021.

According to Kropfl’s Linkedin, he is still working on this business with his title being, “Inventor and Chief Fun Officer” at Lockerboard. He also labels himself a public speaker, athlete, and ocean activist.

Even though he is only a teenager, he has given a TEDx Talk, spoke to undergraduates at USC Marshall School of Business, Chapman University, and told his story at Impact 18 in Las Vegas.

What is Locker Board’s Net Worth?
