Kymera Body Board from Shark Tank Update

  • by

Kymera is the motorized body board that originally had one of “the worst pitches” in Shark Tank history. But, the product and its inventor Jason Woods got a second chance to return and redo the pitch. So, what happened after the second time around? Find out below with this update.

5 Facts About Kymera Body Board

1) The first time in the Shark Tank did not go well for Jason Woods. Originally, his body board was nothing more than a prototype, and he had no sales evidence. Daymond John even called it “one of the worst pitches” he’d seen. Yikes!

2) 5 years later, he came back to the tank in front of the same panel. He took Mark Cuban’s advice and got someone to run the day-to-day operations: Adam Majewski. According to USA Today, Adam saw Jason’s original episode, and even still, was interested in the product. They partnered up, and turned Jason’s idea into a fully-fledged business.

3) At the time of his second chance Shark Tank appearance, the company was projected to do 2 million in sales. They had sold $350,000 for the year, which didn’t seem to impress sharks like “Mr. Wonderful” Kevin O’Leary. The $5 million valuation also surprised Daymond, who wasn’t biting at the idea either.

4) But, the second-chance nature of things got Robert Herjavec’s attention. He even made Woods an offer that was double what he asked for! $500,000 for the 10% stake. Robert was quoted saying: “I love the second chances. I mean, that’s one of the things that makes this country great. Everybody deserves a second chance.”

5) The motorized boogie board got the press’ attention too. But, Jason hasn’t stopped there. At the time of the USA Today article, there were developments for electric kayaks and a surfboard. Although, so far, only the jet board is for sale on their website. It comes in yellow, lime green, pink, white, and orange; plus, goes up to 20 mph with a 90 min. charge.

Shark Tank season 13 premieres on October 8 at 8 PM ET on ABC. In the meantime, catch other episodes on demand or on Hulu.
