The pageant queen turned farm wife and mother, Katey Evans has had quite the year! From appearing on Shark Tank in March 2020 at the beginning of COVID-19 to scoring a major deal in a rollout of her dessert line in Kroger stores, so much has happened. We had a chance to catch up directly with Katey for a chat about her return to Shark Tank and what it’s been like working with Lori Greiner.
Just to get you caught up, here is how Katey’s appearance on Shark Tank went in March of 2020.
While it appears that company owners only have a few minutes to pitch the sharks, that’s actually not true at all. Katey told us, “What was surprising to me, was how long the pitch actually took. I was in the tank for quite a long time. You only get to see 5 – 8 minutes of it on TV.”
When thinking back to the famous walk down the long hallway to the sharks, Katey reminisces “I don’t even think I remember that walk down the hallway, not sure if I completely blacked out. I knew how it went, I knew they all had wonderful things to say. I knew I got a deal with Lori but I was curious they were going to edit it.”
Speaking of Lori Greiner, the famed multi-millionaire shark with close ties to QVC has been instrumental to building up The Frozen Farmer to where it is today. “We’ve learned a lot with Lori, that challenges will arise but always be ready for volume because it will come,” Katey revealed
COVID-19 definitely had an effect on The Frozen Farmer and they were able to pivot to bring some joy to the locals in a trying time.
“We also have a drive-through at our creamery. It worked really well during COVID, because people wanted to get out of their homes and they were able to do that safely while still enjoying a nice treat,” Katey told us.
The Frozen Farmer can also be found in Kroger stores all over the country. That placement started in March 2021.
Inside the Shark Tank Audition
Katey told us she auditioned for Shark Tank in New York City where she met Mindy from casting who said that if you are chosen for the show, you become part of the Shark Tank family which she says has been extremely accurate.
Evans will return to Shark Tank in an update spotlight for the Frozen Farmer on Friday, May 14, 2021 on ABC. She told us they came out to Delaware (where their farm is located) multiple times to grab update footage. The clip they choose will even be a surprise to Katey, as she and her family will see it for the first time when Shark Tank airs.
