Trendy, totally-celeb worthy headphones Frends, appeared on season 7 of Shark Tank. Even though the company failed to secure a deal amongst the sharks, their product is still very popular today. Find out what happened on the hit ABC show, and where it is now with this update below.
1) Sheen Moaleman and Keir Dillon appeared on Shark Tank to pitch to the panel of sharks. Keir is the actual inventor of the product; he started it with some of his friends. Dillon was a professional snowboarder and X-Games medalist, and he teamed up with Sheen to create durable, fun, and user-friendly headphones.
2) The company name came to be because the duo always say “there’s no ‘i’ in Frends.” Constant revision on their designs keep them up-to-date, and it’s easy to see why they’ve become a celebrity-favorite, endorsed by talents like Rihanna. When the singer wore a $9,000 pair, they instantly sold-out. See the viral tweet below.
3) If the above thousand dollar price has you nervous, don’t be. According to Shark Tank Blog, the majority of the headphones sell within the $150-200 range. Their fashionable styles and various designs appeal to women who like BaubleBar or Dolce & Gabbana. There’s also removable caps for the headphones so you can change your look whenever you’d like; they come with a 1-year limited warranty.
4) Unfortunately, they hit a bit of a snag when it came to wowing the sharks. They did not get a deal from anyone on the panel, mostly due to the losses they had within the company. Even though they had decent growth and optimistic projections, their $9 million loss was hard for the sharks to look beyond.
5) As of 2021, Sheen, Keir, and their company are still in business. There’s an annual revenue of $6 million. You can purchase Frends headphones through Amazon or on their official website.
