It’s time for a Fat Shack update. The Fat Shack started in 2010 as Tom Armenti was just graduating college. He saw a need for late night food options, particularly when so many local restaurants closed beyond the college student’s typical eating schedule . With $5,000 he got creative and worked it out with a local bagel shop that he could use their location to offer his own line of foods while they were closed, particularly the overnight hours. It became popular and eventually he brought it to Colorado and then of course he and partner, Kevin Gabauer went on the coveted show, Shark Tank.
They walked into Shark Tank requesting $250,000 for 7.5% of their Fat Shack business.

They had many offers come in including Daymond John, Robert Herjavec, and Mark Cuban all offering 17% for $250,000. Armenti and Gabauer asked Mark if he would do $250K for 15% and he said yes. They had a deal.
Today the company is still headquartered out of Colorado and has 28 locations.
After the founders opened two stores, they branched out into franchising. The first franchise opened in 2015 in Denver, Colorado.

According to Linkedin, Tom Armenti and Kevin Gabauer are both still the owners of Fat Shack.
Tom Armenti was recently quoted as saying “I always tell people, ‘Our food is good anytime of the day, but if it’s two in the morning, you’ve had a fun night – it’s the best thing you’ll ever eat” to the Denver Channel.
While they had a top deal with Mark Cuban, they received an even more exciting result from the publicity of this show. According to The Denver Channel, Gabauer said, “we had over 3,000 franchise requests come in through the website.”
They were asked if they would change their food plan. They said that wouldn’t be an option, they will stay with the recipes that made them this popular.
Here is even more of a Fat Shack update. They just recently in August 2022 introduced the Birthday Cake Shake.
Despite a huge move towards “healthy foods” there are still many people who love what Fat Shack offers. Their tagline is “Late Night Done Right.”
In July the Fat Shack invited people to the Lisd Aquatic Center in The Colony, Texas where they had a mobile kitchen on site. You can see the video here.
Looks like people can’t get enough of FatShack. Look at what an UberEats driver did! A fan named “emmie._.darla said, “Bummed out; finally go to order from you on UberEats but apparently our driver stole our order.”
Some reviewers weren’t too happy with Fat Shack, in particular, the delivery services.
Nick W. said, “Fat Shack needs to remove delivery service from there options. Placed an order at 1:30 and at 3:00am I am told it is canceled due to not having a delivery driver. Then told that the Delivery Driver was sent home at 2:00am. To be this out of sink on staffing is crazy to me.”
Michael H. of Florida said, “I placed an order a couple hours ago and paid through pay pal. I have called 3 times each time they said it has just left. one guy said yes I know exactly where you are at be there in a minute.”
Aleise P of Colorado also is unhappy with the delivery service saying, “Absolutely horrific. We placed an order for delivery through Uber. After two hours, our food still hadn’t arrived.”
