Meet EmiSunshine from American Idol

American Idol airs their Hollywood round episode this week, and one contestant taking part is EmiSunshine. Get to know more about this talented musician before the March 21 show with five facts below.

Update on 3/29/21: Emisunshine sang “Piece of My Heart” by Janis Joplin. Emisunshine did not make it to the top 24.

Update on 3/22/21: Emisunshine and Alex Miller were paired up for the duets. They sang “Minor Harmony” together on stage in which Emisunshine actually yodeled! Luke Bryan told them to throw people off with surprises in music. They both made it through to the next round of American Idol.

Update on 3/21/21: EmiSunshine took to the stage for Hollywood Solo Week. She along with Wyatt, Murphy and others moved on to the Hollywood Duets Week.

Get to Know EmiSunshine

1) Rolling Stone named her one of “10 new country artists you need to know” in 2017. Her talent is full of “wisdom and ferocity” they wrote. A review like that from a major magazine is impressive for only 13 years old.

2) While her stage name is EmiSunshine, her full name is Emilie Sunshine Hamilton.

3) She writes about everyday things that happen. Or, things she’s heard from others. Topics like natural disasters, bullying, etc. are all fair game. She looks at problems and tries “to make something beautiful out of them,” according to her official website.

4) She may be only 16, but she has two albums out already. Ragged Dreams in 2017; her latest project with The Rain is Family Wars.

5) EmiSunshine’s appeared on The TODAY Show, NBC’s Little Big Shots, and performed at the Grand Ole Opry. Look at this adorable throwback photo below for proof!
