DJ Johnson on American Idol walked on to the stage and stole the hearts of America as she shared her story with the world. She sat down at the piano to play and sing her own original song “Scars.”

The three judges felt bad they couldn’t console a distraught DJ so they called in her father who has been her rock.

DJ’s father walks in a little concerned but is quickly told it’s nothing bad, the judges just want him to hug and console his daughter to help her be able to continue her audition.

Her father quickly gives her a long hug and whispers a few helpful words to her.

That did the trick because DJ was able to finish her song and instead put the judges in tears!

Moments were tense when Lionel Richie told DJ to “Please look at it as just a step forward, it’s going to be ok.”

Then it came time for the verdict from the judges. Luke Bryan: yes. Katy Perry: yes. Then it was Lionel Richie’s turn. He asked DJ’s father to join his daughter on the stage.
