If you are a parent, or have a baby, then you may know about diapers. Dealing with the odor isn’t pleasant, which is where Diaper Dust, developed by Regina Crisci comes into play. See, it’s an odor eliminator, and easy to use. The product was featured on Shark Tank season 13. But, what’s happened since then? Find out more below with our update.
Name of Business: Diaper Dust
Episode: Season 11 Episode 1
Asked for: $75,000 for 40%
Shark Investor: Mark Cuban
Deal: $75,000 for 40% | |
Founders: Regina Crisci |
1) Regina Crisci created Diaper Dust. According to CNBC, she began this as a side hustle, while still working her day job as a travel nurse. 2020 is when the company officially launched out of her North Carolina backyard.
2) When nothing else she tried masked the smell from diapers, Regina created her own deodorizing powder. It’s made from activated charcoal and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). Simply sprinkle it into the diaper before tossing it out and your problem is solved! Apparently, you can use it on pet waste and cat litter you’re going to discard too.
3) On Shark Tank, Regina asked for $75,000 for 40% of the company. At the time, she only had $3,000 lifetime sales. So, why did Mark Cuban invest in it? Because she had drive – and she proved that by making and selling her product on her own. So, he agreed to do the deal with her, as is.
4) Currently, there’s only the one product. But, the unscented diaper deodorizer is a top seller, getting rave Amazon reviews. Customers call it a “miracle” and “the best product” for odor control. There’s a one pack or two pack option available.
5) However, Diaper Dust has been hinting there may be a new product on the horizon. On August 15, they wrote on Instagram: “Just trying to give the people what they want 😎 Stay tuned! #diaperdust #sharktank #markcuban.” The photo could be a new diaper odor eliminator, or maybe a companion product like a specialized baby wipe. Be sure you’re following them on Instagram for the big reveal!
Diaper Dust has been doing very well ever since their episode aired on Shark Tank. According to Techstry, the company is currently worth $1.6 million.
Currently, 2 bottles costs $30 on Amazon.
You can watch episodes of Shark Tank on demand or on Hulu. Season 14 will premiere on September 23 at 8 PM ET/PT on ABC.
