For those who live in a more wooded area or in a mountainous region are all too familiar with the problem of coyotes. While there are a number of issues when it comes to coyotes, one of the most dangerous is for dogs. Coyotes tend to prey on small dogs in particular. Paul and Pamela Mott did not want to sit idly by and let this continue happening. They did something about it and now we’re ready to give you the CoyoteVest Update after Shark Tank.

Watch as Paul and Pamela Mott announce they would be on Shark Tank
They walked into the Shark Tank seeking $250,000 for 10% of their company. So far they had $260,000 in sales. Unfortunately none of the sharks made an offer.
The CoyoteVest was designed to protect small dogs from vicious coyote attacks. These vests will help slow down a surprise attack and give the owner time to react. Coyote vests are made of hard plastic spikes around the collar to deter these predators from attacking the small dogs. The spikes are easy to add or remove will velcro. The vests are also water resistant and easy to clean.
While they did not receive a deal from the sharks, that did not stop them. From their humble beginnings in creating the vest for their own dog to making some for friends, to starting a shop on Etsy. Here is the story from founder Paul Mott in his interview with SD Voyager.
“Other people saw the vest and asked if we could make one for their dog too, so we decided to make a few extra and sell them on Etsy. Sales were better than expected so we moved forward and setup our own eCommerce website. Within days the local CBS affiliate discovered our website and our story made the local news, followed by the national news, followed by the international news — our story went viral and our sales took off faster than we could keep up.
Three years later and CoyoteVest is now our full-time job and we are still expanding rapidly. It turns out there was a large need for a product like the CoyoteVest.”
The CoyoteVest update is that they continue to sell their products via their website and on Amazon. They are low in quantity on Amazon as of the writing of this post. This company has also been recognized and trusted by multiple big names including:
BuzzFeed, Popular Mechanics, Field & Stream, Daily Mail
You can find all the CoyoteVest products on either:
On Amazon the top two products, the CoyoteVest SpikeVest Dog Harness Vest, Reflective Dog Accessories with Spikes to Shield Your Pet has 290 reviews (4.6 stars) with a limited quantity left and the CoyoteVest Dog Harness Protection Vest, Reflective Dog Accessories with Spikes to Shield Your Pet has 219 reviews (4.3 stars) with a limited quantity left as well.
These aren’t the only products at all. They also have accessories sold separately including a color, the whiskers, and even eagle eyes.
The way the vest is structured, it is created to withstand the punctures from large birds like hawks. The large neck collar will protect your dog’s throat and neck.
Prior to his discovery of CoyoteVest, Paul Mott, co-founder of the company with his wife, Pamela, he was a software developer for many years in addition to be a principal architect in the Southern California area.
“Only took a few times for my dog to get used to wearing it. She wears it when I take her out at night and it gives me some peace of mind. There are lots of coyotes in the neighborhood.”
“Our 12 lb. Yorkie mix was grabbed by a coyote at our back door. Fortunately he dropped her and she survived. This vest will hopefully protect her from getting grabbed again.”
“Purchased for protection from a hawk on the farm. The hawk did try to attack while our Morkie was wearing the vest but it got within 12 inches and backed off after getting a closer look. Definitely worth the $$!”
According to Insider Growth, “as of June 1, 2021 CoyoteVest is reportedly doing $1 million in annual revenue.”
