5 Facts on Brake Free from Shark Tank

Driving can be tricky business, but sometimes motorcyclists have it even tougher on the roads. Safety is always the number one priority, and Brake Free was created to ensure that for motorists. If you’re curious to learn more about device that will be on Shark Tank, keep reading below for five facts.

Update on Brake Free 2022

Did Brake Free get a Deal on Shark Tank?

They walked into the tank looking for $200,000 for 10% of their company. Robert offers $200,000 for 20%. Then the owners asked if Mark would join in on it. Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec teamed up and the owners accepted. Unfortunately this deal never closed.

According to their website, the company sold and shipped 10,000 units of the Brake Free Helmet since their Shark Tank episode in 2019.

Brake Free is still quite active on their social media with recent posts on Instagram and Facebook. They have 4.9K followers on Instagram and 6.1K followers on Facebook.

They recently ran a collaboration with EstRiderz who is a French Biker. You can see the post here.

The products page on their website shows both products in stock and available.

As of September 2022, the company ships products to the United States and Canada. They have desires to become global and say they will announce on their website when they expand to offering the product in other countries. The post collaboration with the French biker might be one of those steps towards that very goal.

Details on Brake Free

1) Alex Arkhangelskiy is the founder and inventor of Brake Free. Henry Li came onto the team after their Indie GoGo launch in 2017. It grew from Alex’s idea working with a Silicon valley entrepreneur, which he paired with his avid motorcycling.

2) Henry and Alex received funding through their IndieGoGo campaign, which raised over $250,000. They were then able to start manufacturing their product, Brake Free. It’s an eye level LED light that hooks on to any scooter/motorbike helmet.

3) The light is made up of a series of LED lights that get stronger when motorcyclists brake or slow down. It’s a “smart” light, in that it knows when to light up and anticipates when you’re going to brake.

4) Their light is currently in limited production on their website. They had a more major launch planned, but their shipments got delayed due to the pandemic. Their hope is that one of the sharks can help them find a solution for distribution.

5) While they only have the one product (along with helmet mounts), hopefully they can expand their product line. With all the press they’ve gotten so far (they’ve been featured in MAXIM and on Mashable, for example), it’s easy to see the potential for a shark to invest.
