Akash is a young competitor in the spotlight on the newest documentary from Netflix called “Spelling the Dream.” An Indian-American competitor has won the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee for the past 12 years straight. That is one of the longest trends in sports history. This documentary chronicles the ups and downs of four Indian-American students, including Akash Vukoti as they compete and try to win the big Scripps tournament. So who is Akash? Find out below!
1. Akash Vukoti became the youngest contestant to qualify for the Scripps National Spelling Bee in 2016 at only 6 years old.
