When Mika discovered she was experiencing a good amount of hair loss after her second pregnancy, she searched for a solution for coverage so she wouldn’t deal with embarrassment. She tried multiple headbands but none seemed to fit right and most hurt. That is when she discovered she could create her own design. What design is that? Learn about Ooakshell which can be seen on Shark Tank now.
How Ooakshell Started
1. Mika started Ooakshell on Etsy where it shows she had 518 sales before switching over to her own Shopify store at ooakshell.com.
2. She has multiple products available in her shop but most are shown as sold out. Her headbands are labeled as either high tide or low tide. According to the site, high tide headbands are about two inches wider than the low tide headband. Both can be worn in a narrow style or a wide one, with or without rings.
Unique Styles
3. If you’re worried that your headband will be just one of the bunch, don’t. Each one is hand dyed and meant to be completely unique.
One Size Fits All Headbands
4. These headbands are adjustable which is why it says they are “one size truly fits all.” They are built long so they can adjust to just about any size head, plus they’re comfy which is a huge plus for most headband wearers!
5. Mika planned a special color combination for her appearance on Shark Tank. Here she posted a video as she prepares the headbands asking which colors her customers would like the headbands to turn into. Blues, teals, and yellow/orange seemed to be the most popular colors mentioned.
