Marilyn Wilson was the first wife of Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson. She has since remarried, but together she and Brian had two daughters: Carnie and Wendy, who were also in the music business. 1) She’s more than just the first wife of Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson. In fact, Marilyn founded the girl group The Honeys. They became popular in the 1960s, and consisted of herself, her sister Diane, and their cousin Ginger Blake. Brian served as their record producer and chief songwriter.
2) Speaking of Brian and Marilyn, they married in 1964. Their divorce was amicable, and occurred in 1979. During their time together, they had daughters Carnie and Wendy, who found fame as part of the trio Wilson Phillips. 3) The Honeys actually reunited in 1983 for a comeback album called Ecstasy. After that, another album called It’s Like Heaven was released. They performed around LA in the 90s, and an anthology of their music was put out by Capitol Records in 1992.
4) She and Diane formed another group – a duo this time – called American Spring in the 70s. They came out with one album called Spring in 1972, again with Brian helping produce and write music. The band didn’t last, as they went dormant in 1973.
5) Nowadays, she’s remarried to Daniel Rutherford and is no longer in the music business. Instead, she is a real estate agent in Los Angeles, California. She and Daniel are coming up on 21 years of marriage this fall.
