An Update on Sand Cloud Turkish Towels from Shark Tank

  • by

Sand Cloud Turkish Towels are stylish beach-ready accessories. They were on season 8 of ABC’s Shark Tank. Bruno Aschidamini, Steven Ford and Brandon Leibel created the towels for a good cause. That cause is conserving marine life. Known as a charitable lifestyle brand, they snagged a deal with one of the sharks, and business has been great ever since. Keep reading below for more on their journey, including where the company is now.

Where are Sand Cloud Turkish Towels now?

1) The three friends went into the tank asking for $200,000 for 8%. They received the $200,000, but for 15%. This garnered them a deal with Robert Herjavec.

2) Bruno, Steven, and Brandon all worked at a call center together prior to becoming entrepreneurs. Steven and Brandon first came up with an idea for beach towels you could nap on, called Cloud Nine. While this venture didn’t prosper, Bruno helped them reignite the idea with a new spin.

3) That’s how Sand Cloud came to be. The idea of decorated design towels was a happy accident. When the trio were trying to sell their pillow-attached towels, there was one with a mandala design, sans pillow, in the corner of their booth. A Quiksilver rep placed an order for $20,000 of that towel alone, according to CNBC. This is how their business took off.

4) After sales skyrocketed in 2016, they appeared on Shark Tank in 2017. They used the money to improve their website and buy inventory. The company projected to do about $7 million in sales that year. They still donate a portion of every purchase towards marine life conservation, using the hashtag #SaveTheFishies to promote the cause.

5) Now, they are verified on Instagram, with 815,000 followers. They’ve since expanded their line to include aquatic accessories and bath towels. Between their new designs and bestsellers, it’s no wonder they’ve got thousands of people bombarding the site! You can shop the entire collection online here.

You can stream season 12 episodes of Shark Tank on demand or on Hulu while you wait for season 13, which is coming soon to ABC.
