American Idol airs its Hollywood round episode this week. One contestant who is taking part is Adriel Carrion. Before the March 21 episode, we’ve gathered five facts about him. Keep reading below for all that info.
Update on 3/22/21: Adriel was paired up with Anthony Guzman. Adriel talked about how he is very low in confidence compared to Anthony. They chose to sing “Watermelon Sugar High” and both moved on to the next round of American Idol.
Where is Adriel Carrion from?
Adriel is from the southeast and comes from a town called Lambert, Georgia.
How old is Adriel?
He is currently a student at Keenesaw State University according to Forsythnews.com and is 18 years old. He is a graduate of Lambert High School.
When asked about his experience in front of the three judges he said he had performed in front of 4,000 people and even though it was just the three of them, he felt like he was performing in front of 4,000 people again.
Adriel shared some more inside behind the scenes information from his early auditions with American Idol. He was told to go into the audition in front of Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie with a “funny story” according to Forsythnews.com. Unfortunately COVID hit his family hard and they changed the idea of a funny story to one about the struggles he faced.
Get to Know Adriel Carrion
1) He was crowned Homecoming King in 2019. He was so surprised, but very happy to have won. Check out his post alongside the queen, Elena Lopez.
2) He’s been singing for years. An example of his talent is “Walking Lie.” It’s his single about saying you’re fine when you’re not. Even the cover artwork is meaningful. Check it out for yourself below.
3) He wanted to be a “well known singer” when he grew up. Teachers told him to think of something more “realistic.” But, now look at him. He’s one step closer to his dream career.
4) Adriel is good friends with fellow Idol contestant Liv Grace Blue. They often comment and like each other’s posts.
5) American Idol isn’t the first singing competition show he auditioned for. In 2018, Adriel tried out for NBC’s The Voice. He made it through the first round, along with his friend Liana.
