Meet Jackson Snelling from American Idol

  • by

American Idol airs its last round of auditions this week. One new contestant who will take the stage is Jackson Snelling. We’ve got five facts on the American Idol hopeful for you below. So, keep reading to learn more about Jackson.

Get to Know Jackson Snelling

1) This isn’t Jackson Snelling’s first time auditioning for a singing competition show, nor for American Idol. Previously, he tried out for America’s Got Talent and The Voice. He actually tried out twice for Idol in past years. Apparently, his third time on the ABC show is the charm because he will face the judges this week.

2) He’s from Austin, Indiana. He and his mom have made all the trips together for his various auditions. His family is a huge support system in his life. It’s he, his mom Dacia, and his older brother, Dawson.

3) Both Jackson and his brother have autism. While his brother is on the extreme end of the spectrum, Jackson isn’t. Jackson hasn’t let that stop him from following his dreams. He wants to set an example for people out there to never give up.

4) He plans to study linguistics. He wants to become a multi-lingual and sign language interpreter

5) While Jackson’s always loved to sing, songwriting was something newer to him. He wrote his first song “Please Listen” in 2018 after about 5-10 minutes, according to the News and Tribune. He wrote that song about the loss of his father, and liked how music helped him work through that grief. Since then, he’s continued to write and record his own music.

So, will Jackson’s talent get him a golden ticket? Find out when American Idol airs on March 14 at 8 PM ET, only on ABC.
