5 Facts & Update on LINKA Bike Lock from Shark Tank

  • by

If you have ridden a bike at some point in your life, you may have come across the problem of locking it. Or, rather: worrying someone was going to try and take your bike if you didn’t lock it up. That issue was precisely what the LINKA Bike Lock was going to solve, and the invention even got pitched on ABC’s Shark Tank. Keep reading for 5 facts, plus an update on LINKA.

1) LINKA Smart Bike Locks were designed to be just that: a new wave, technologically sound bike lock. It’s a smart, keyless lock that will alert you via phone if someone tries to steal your bicycle. Not only that, but it also locks the wheel to the bike’s frame, so the thief in question couldn’t ride off with it, even if they wanted to.

2) LINKA was invented by mechanical engineer Mohamed Mohamed from California. While he did not nab a deal with any of the sharks, he has still continued to expand his product line, which includes the GPS tracking LINKA Leo (seen below).

3) LINKA’s social media game is very up to date, as its postings happen every couple of days on Instagram; every few days on Facebook. The images are clear, and the captions are concise with proper hashtags.

4) Mohamed interviewed over 300 cyclists to identify the needs that were not yet being met by then-current bike locks. He himself is a daily bicycle commuter, according to LINKA’s official website.

5) What’s LINKA up to now? Mohamed has since developed not only the original LINKA Lock, and the LINKA Leo, but now the LINKA Fleet Solution. The LINKA Fleet Solution is a system that includes your own bike lock, plus your own bike sharing application, and a dashboard that allows you to manage your fleet. You can check that out at: LINKAFleets.com.

Where Can You Buy LINKA?

Amazon reviews are decent for LINKA, giving it 3 out of 5 stars on average, with quite a few saying it’s “an amazing piece of technology.” Seems like LINKA is doing smart security right!
