To Tell the Truth was all new with a new celebrity panel to match on Sunday, June 20th. The panel consisted of actress Francia Raisa, Retta and Kevin Nealon.
Three contestants entered the To Tell the Truth stage with their confession. One man and two women were revealed who all claimed to have the same truth. “I won a quarter million dollars playing bingo,” they all said. With that confession, it’s now the job of the panelists to guess who is telling the truth and who is lying.
Host Anthony Anderson read the person’s “true story” out loud to the audience and panelists. “I won a quarter million dollars playing bingo. My whole life changed because of one little game and bingo was its name-o,” Anthony read. Everyone burst into laughter.
Anthony’s Mama Doris was the first one to question the panelists. “What do the numbers go through 0 to what?” she asked. The first male contestant was the first to respond. He hesitated a bit and said “75.”
How many squares are in the B column? Kevin Nealon asked. “15,” said contestant #1. Number 2? “5,” she replied. Number 3? “5,” she also replied.
Retta got her chance to ask a question. “Number 2, what was the big pot for that game?” “A million dollars,” she softly answered.
Francia Raisa asked, “#1 who taught you how to play Bingo?” “A casino.” Then she directed the question to contestant #3. She said, “My mom.” Anthony Anderson chimed in, “my mom taught me how to play bingo!”
Retta asked, “what was the first thing you bought when you won your money?” “I bought a cabin,” she responded.
The last question asked was how they received their money. Contestant #2 and #3 both said they were paid by check, while contestant #1 said he was paid by wire transfer. Host, Anthony Anderson deferred to his Mama Doris again to get the truth since she seems to be a knowledgeable gambler!
Mama Doris revealed what she always did when she went gambling. “I asked for $5k to put in my bosom and the rest, in a check!” She went on to chuckle, “this is my bank when I gamble!”
Time was up! The round was over and it was time for everyone to guess who was the real bingo winner. Retta and Francia Raisa both thought the real bingo winner was contestant #3 while Retta guessed it was contestant #2. Now it was time for the truth teller to stand up! Who was it?
Retta was correct! The real $250k Bingo Winner was contestant #2. “My name is Tara and I did win a quarter of a million dollars playing Bingo,” she confessed. They showed a picture of Tara holding her big check, with an equally big smile across her face!
Who were the other contestants? #1 stood up and said “I’m Sunit Gupta. I did not win in Bingo but I did win in other games like chess.” #3 said, “I’m Kim Hopkins and I didn’t win at Bingo but I did win on this show because I got to meet my favorite bingo player, Mama Doris.”
